In fulfillment for 3D Printing, I was requested to produce a more detailed 3d print prototype that is equal to or smaller than 13cm x 13cm x 13cm. I decided to make a toon hyena figure for this assignment and once again started out with some sketching.
With this being my second foray into Maya I decided to make most of the sculpt using spheres which would be easy to manipulate.
The colors in the model were added to help differentiate between some of the parts to make sure the model was ready to print.
During my multiple attempts to get this sculpt to load into the Makerbot print program the file was corrupted and lost the smoothing that I added in Maya giving the hyena a pixilated look. What I would like to call a happy accident as it added to the overall cuteness of the finished model.
The final model was printed on a Makerbot Replicator+ running about 9 hours to complete.
